This course explores the Oxy-Acetelene and Arc welding procedures/process and introduces Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, and Plasma Arc cutting processes. Students are expected to develop a specific degree of proficiency in all available methods of welding and brazing as well as blueprint reading. Welding different types of metal will be explored including stainless and aluminum. At least one class project will be fabricated during the course. 90% of the class time will be spent in the lab.  This course will be concurrently taught with the fine arts course Metal Sculpture. This course does not result in any welding certifications and does not go into the depth of welding courses offered at MCST.
