Description:

This course is designed to solidify students’ algebraic skills while exploring various new topics. A primary focus will be on the study of functions. Different types of functions that may be studied include Polynomial, Rational, trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic.  One semester of trigonometry is included.   Other topics that may be covered include conic sections, polar coordinates, and parametric equations.

Outcomes:

 Interpret the structure of expressions. (CCSS HSA.SSE.A) Write expressions in equivalent forms to solve problems. (CCSS HSA.SSE.B) Perform arithmetic operations on polynomials. (CCSS HSA.APR.A) Understand the relationship between zeros and factors of polynomials. (CCSS HSA.APR.B) Use polynomial identities to solve problems. (CCSS HSA.APR.C4) Rewrite rational expressions. (CCSS HSA.APR.D.6) Create equations that describe numbers or relationships. (CCSS HSA.CED.A) Understand solving equations as a process of reasoning and explain the reasoning. (CCSS HAS.REI.A) Solve equations and inequalities in one variable. (CCSS HSA.REI.B)  Solve systems of equations. (CCSS HSA.REI.C.5-7) Represent and solve equations and inequalities graphically. (CCSS HSA.REI.D) Understand the concept of a function and use function notation.
